The Mt Eliza Football Netball club means a lot to a lot of people. There’s those who have come before us and built a foundation of safe solid success. Those who put their money where their heart is and sponsor us. There are those who put their bodies on the line each week to compete for ‘that’ trophy, the envy of the Peninsula. And then there are those who love the club for love itself. A place to enjoy, come together and feel familiar.
This week saw some great examples of that.
Our Thursday night team selection dinner was yet again a great success!! Record numbers as people enjoyed a delicious Corner Pantry meal in a fun, youthful atmosphere. Sport on the big screens, music and, last week, our club was splashed across a national football show ‘The Front bar’ (but that’s enough about that).
Then there was the huge contingency who made their way up to RedHill to watch our 8 matches. There was a sea of ‘Blue and Red’ with everyone sporting their new season apparel. (the new range is on display and available at home games – drop by and ‘suit up’!)
It was ANZAC Round and the respect shown by everyone upheld the Redleg spirit. My Son Cole (16) and Dad, Geoff (Vietnam Veteran) wore the colours with pride.
Saturday night, the players held a fantastic event, a ‘good ole’ players disco. We had local DJ’s, two dance floors and all the makings of a great party night for Footballers, Netballers and friends. Everyone shook off the tough day on the sporting fields and enjoyed a fabulous party at the club.
Come and join us this weekend as we do it all again at Impact Realty Oval (Emil Madsen). We take on Sorrento on, what will be, another 22 degree sunny day with lots of fun for all.
It’s ladies day so please ‘frock up’, bring your wives, girlfriends, sisters and mothers. This weekend is all about the girls.
See you down there David
